For our Chicago season you can only mint when BTC is below 20k. This means you will be able to prove you were there. You didn't just luck out with a BAYC or a Crypto Punk. You lived through something. You were in the trenches.

People from the 1920/30s were honest, hard working & proud. They worked long hours and usually did backbreaking work. May of the photos that emerged from the era (especially the photos by Dorothea Lange) captured this. Its these elements that are reflected in the traits and backgrounds chosen for this season.

New York

1970/80s New Wave

1970/80s New York was a hell of a place to be. People were flooding into the city to experience the fashion and music scene. People were marching because of the Vietnam war and vagrancy was on the rise. All of these are reflected in the carefully chosen traits for this season.

The industry is full of projects that celebrate success and wealth while the majority of crypto believers are poor & wrecked. There needs to be a project that encapsulate the extremes of wealth and poverty that happen with the erratic nature of the space and market cycles.

Q4 2022
A design document was drawn up that focused on conveying the central theme of poverty and vagrancy with care and respect for those who have lost everything in society. No frivolous attributes were used and any signs of alcohol or substance abuse we avoided. After that the seasons and the accompanying items for traits were chosen.
✅ Start a Discord and a social presence for the Project
Q4 2022
Get to grips with a new platform (Discord, not Twitter 😂) and start building up a set of requirements for the success of the project.

Start to build a community round the theme of the project and what it wants to achieve.
✅ Free Mint #1 - Accessories
Q1 2023
To prepare for the main mint, establish theme and story, increase brand awareness and better understand the requirements for a successful mint it was decided to do a free mint. These enabled the community own a bit of the story behind Poor Apes.

All 300 item were successfully minted.

Q2 2023
This mint will offer those involved in the Poor Apes community to have a better discount on the main mint to refelect there time spent on the project and dedication to it's success.
